The road to hell (part 2)
by Chris Rhea.
Well I'm standing by a river But the water doesn't flow It boils with every poison you can think of And I'm underneath the streetlight But the light of joy I know Scared beyond belief way down in the shadows And the perverted fear of violence Chokes the smile on every face And common sense is ringing out the bell This ain't no technological breakdown Oh no, this is the road to hell.
And all the roads jam up with credit And there's nothing you can do It's all just bits of paper flying away from you Oh look out world, take a good look What comes down here You must learn this lesson fast and learn it well This ain't no upwardly mobile freeway Oh no, this is the road Said, this is the road This is the road to hell.
Link til you tube 2008 udgave af ‘Road to Hell’ (This version was released in 2008 - almost 20 years after the first version for inclusion on a new " Definitive Greatest Hits " compilation along with some other classic Rea songs. Don`t expect this to be better than the original version from 1989 - nothing could be better than that - but this is a great version and the interesting thing is Chris plays all the instruments here himself . The video is a combination of the original video and also time-lapse footage from the M 25 - the very motorway that inspired Chris to write the song.)
